Today is Halloween.  We were not sure whether we would get ‘trick or treaters’ in our neighborhood.  We had been told that the pagan holiday is not overly popular up in the hills (as opposed to, say, the bars down in town, who all had massive Halloween parties).  Just in case, we stocked up on candy, figuring we can always eat it ourselves…

At five pm, we detected a parade of small figures striding purposfully down the hill.  Mostly in costume, it was our next door neighbor’s two kids and a few other local children (likely relatives from up the hill) and two moms leading the procession.  They happily partook of our candy and said “Thank You!” to which I replied with “De nada!”. Kinda sweet.
