Ruth asked what, if anything, Puerto Ricans did over the festive season.  We have been told that Christmas is a very important holiday on the island (even among the non religious crowd) and that celebration continues into January, with the “Dia de los Reyes“.

We imagine there are a lot of traditional holiday activities and we will report on them as they unfold.  So far, other than neighborly distribution of coquito, the most noticable sign of the festive season’s approach is lights and lights and lights!  Folks here take their decorations very seriously.  We have taken some photos of decorations here in Rincon as well as in Old San Juan and will post additional photos as they become available.   We have been inspired by our neighbors–we will post photos of our own efforts later this week!
