Today is Purim, a Jewish holiday which commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people of the ancient Persian Empire from Haman‘s plot to annihilate them, as recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther (Megillat Esther).  Nick and I prepared Hamantaschen (which, in Hebrew, are called ‘Oznei Haman’ or ‘Haman’s ears’), and faced our yearly woe of escaping filling and collapsing sides. Anyone out there with a fail-proof recipe or tips for containing one’s filling???  I think the culprit might be our zealos overfilling with guava jelly, which I thought would nicely complement the cream-cheese dough.  Looks notwithstanding, our Purim treats were very tasty.

Today is also Easter Friday in Puerto Rico, and a national holiday. The roads are very quiet, as everyone is celebrating with their families. Whichever holiday you might be celebrating, we wish you and yours a very happy day.
