A while back, our friend Lisa gave us a pod from a Bauhinia Variegata (aka Poor man’s Orchid). All 12 of the seeds in the pod sprouted and once they reached a respectable size (about a foot), we transplanted two onto one of our terraces, along with a Maria tree (a gift from our friends Ron and Caren). Almost six months later, the plants are now over 6 feet tall (!!!) and in bloom. The Maria tree is thriving too and has tripled in size.  Given their success, we have now planted two more of these trees (as well as two more Maria trees Ron and Caren gave us) on what is now known as the Maria-Orchid Terrace. Thanks Caren, Ron and Lisa!
