The only fruit Nick seeks out of his own volition is a slice of lime to go in his Corona or Medalla. With all the fresh fruit we have, I had to come up with creative ways to get Nick to partake of our tropical bounty. My solution? Tropical milkshakes:
Tropical Milkshakes
Puree fruit (one small Papaya, a bunch of mangoes or a few bananas) using a hand blender
Add a bit of milk, 3 ice-cubes and a few scoops of all natural vanilla ice-cream and blend some more.
Adjust with more milk if too thick.
The milkshakes are a big success. Nick now requests his daily dose of liquid fruit! 🙂

Sound delicious. Att Ann Wigmore I learned to eat milkshakes for breakfast (they use almond milk), but green ones: bunch of baby greens, sprouts (alfa alfa, adzuki), some lettuce, processed in a food processor with some flaxseed, some sunflower seed and a bit of seaseme seed plus fruit: papaya is a must (papain), banana or plantain (healthier, apparently) plus milk or kefir (yeah, Fresh Mart has life kefir, even plain, after my begging, now) or yogurt. It is a serious breakfast – yummy, too. 🙂

That does sound serious! I don’t think I’d be able to get Nick to drink on of those. 😉 He will be getting a much healthier shake today: Our ice-cream was one of the few casualties of our power outage. We do have vanilla yoghurt though! 🙂

lol, they actually taste a LOT better than they sound… and they tend to become addictive: a morning energy kick! But melted vanilla ice cream shake sounds positively weekendy :-))

Yummy! We have been making smoothies with juice instead of milk but maybe will try your recipe next time. I am not too fond of papaya though. Are you BTW allergic to papaya as well, or is it just mango?

It is very yummy. Nick really likes the papaya shakes. I’m not overly crazy about papaya myself but I made him a mango shake the other day and he had to fight me for it! 😉 So tasty! My allergy is only to mango sap; so far no problems picking papaya.
